It's been so many years since I last wrote simply for the sheer pleasure of writing. I think that, as the years went by and adulthood swallowed me whole, I abandoned myself in some drawer at home, waiting for the right moment when I could be myself again. After a while, I must have forgotten myself there completely, amid the moths and dust, utterly convinced that I'd never see myself again.
The world feels strange now. I remember what things were like the first time I wrote something for a blog. Back then, the world still had a little more substance, and people seemed to have some respect for authenticity.
Not anymore. In every single alleyway of the internet, I can smell the foul stench of the same digital marketing gimmicks, beggars totally desperate for more clicks, likes, and, of course, money.
Yes, because now everyone wants to sell me something, and it's as if we've all been reduced to prostitutes and con artists. The only ones who remain the same amid all this chaos are the journalists, still the same liars they've always been, parasitizing whatever fraudulent story will pay for their next meal.
We're all lonelier now. In this post-algorithm world, there's a genuine abyss of ego between people. Each person is trapped inside their own narcissistic bubble, growing lonelier by the day, and I know that, deep down, all of us miss the human presence that disappeared many years ago.
It's as if even human relationships have dissolved in the acidity of this algorithmically manufactured pseudo-reality. Where are the people anymore? Whenever we try to have genuine human contact, disappointment is almost always inevitable when we're forced to confront the monster of ego that we ourselves — and everyone else — have become.
So we return to our cave. We avoid the frightening human figure with all its flaws, and we turn more and more toward admiring the shadows projected onto ever-larger screens. There, we enter the final stage: the labyrinth of empty content that little by little transforms us into mere algo-brains, creatures with absurdly short attention spans and no sense of reality.
I suppose that's why I created this blog. To write what I think, by myself, without asking an artificial intelligence to think for me. I want to feel that, even if I'm talking to myself, what echoes through this empty room of post-algorithmic modernity is still my own voice.
